For decades some international corporations, particularly in oil industry have been trying to organize guidelines consistent with employing unified management system related to job safety, hygiene and environment. These standards, which are abbreviated to HSE-MS, have a specific basis for unified management system and are distinguished from OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001.

Since 2007, Iranian Ministry of Oil has been trying to organize a book of operational guidelines and pass it on to its subsidiary organizations, namely, Petrochemical Corporation, Iranian Natural Gas Company and Iranian Oil Refinery and Distribution Company. Carrying out all these guidelines, Persian Offshore now keeps HSE-MS certificate from DNV institute.
